11/11 postmortem:
11/11 finished and gone, experiments upheld, opinion divided. Exploding Alphabets seeks to challenge and stimulate those that read/watch at poetry nights and 11/11 was no exception. All forms of prewritten work were rejected; participants/audience members were given syllabic lists, from which they were encouraged to construct entirely new works using only the words provided.
Poems rose from aquiescence, rebellion and inebriation. Performance pieces, diatribes and a lecture were given - an atmosphere of creativity and support was garnered, and a final flurry of conceptions closed the evening. The free alcohol was finished. Everybody went home having read or listened or both.
Exploding Alphabets tries to keep itself on its toes. Further impositions and danger to come. Attend to see unpredictability and linguistic mapping. Next evening is Monday 12th December 2005, 8pm with only a one-pound entry fee and complimentary refreshments.

Next event:

Friday 11th November - 8pm - Morden Tower
Providing you with the very highest in oral excellence, Exploding Alphabets is a blurred clarity of never-before-heard poetry, dictats, soundscapes, haiku, collaborations and song all performed in the squarecircle of thirteenth-century Morden Tower, amongst the friendly eyes of a supportive and enraptured audience.
People make poetry, and so you are invited to attend and perform. Everyone is welcome, all styles and intentions are given the space they deserve. There are no featured poets, running orders, or house rules. All we ask is that the piece is one never before performed. This helps us maintain an eclectic dynamism and keeps our beautiful crowd enthralled.
Admission: £1 (includes free tea)
